Back in 2017 someone thought it was a good idea to give me keys to a church basement. I had somehow become the one-man show of my favorite Sunday night AA meeting. Coffee Maker? Check. Greeter? Check. Money Collector? Speaker Seeker? Check. Check.
This is not a way to run an AA meeting.
This is especially true for people prone to God complexes.
Fortunately, I stepped down before my head got too big. I even managed to learn a few things in the process—grow in my sobriety. One important thing it forced me to do was share my story (and not just because the speakers I lined up would sometimes bail.)
So, if for some reason you weren’t able to make it to this meeting back November 12, 2017, don’t worry. I recorded it for you.
I'm glad your sober and a friend. Hopefully becoming a famous writer won't make your head too big.
Thanks for sharing this Matt.
These experiences of yours really get me into some good and need introspection.
